Article writing can be a daunting task especially for those who don’t like to write.  It’s almost like being back in school and having to write a book report.  The thing is now you’re not writing just to try and get a passing grade, you’re writing to gain traffic to your website and hopefully gain some income.  This thought for some reason seems to motivate me a little more than being threatened to repeat the 12th grade!!  For those of you who need to know how to write an article I hope this post will assist you.

First you need a subject, it should be something related to the business you are trying to promote.  When I need a subject to write about I pick a keyword that could relate to my business.  I then check the keyword or words using Google’s AdWords Keyword Tool.  I check the keywords to see how high of a competition I will have, remember we want our article to be read.  Picking a keyword with a very high competition rate will reduce the chances of my article being read.  So pick a keyword or related keyword with an average to high competition rate that has a good monthly search volume.

Next think about the message you want to send to your readers.  What kind of advice or information do you have for them and write an introductory paragraph.  Your introductory paragraph doesn’t have to be long, three or four sentences outlining what you are going to be discussing. For the body of the article try to break down your main subject into three or four sub-subjects.  Say you are writing about internet marketing.  You would try and identify three or four elements of this subject then write a paragraph about each element.  It’s the same thing I am doing with this article.  I have identified my main subject and have broken it down by element to try and convey what the main message is, how to write an article.  Can you see how it all starts to come together?

Finally you need a conclusion to your article.  Three or four sentences is all you need to try and give a supporting statement to what you have discussed in your article.  The conclusion can be looked at as the validation for what you have been writing about. Article writing plays an important part in the development and marketing of your business.

Remember that the selection of what you are writing about is as important as what you put into your article.  By doing a little research and breaking down your article into it’s elements you will find that article writing becomes easier and easier over time.  One last tip for you is you don’t have to write a thousand word essay, four or five hundred words is all that is needed.  With a little practice you will soon be writing your own creation about how to write an article.  Good luck and best wishes, Tim Stokes.
