As I sit here in my favorite shorts, having a nice cold beverage, it is really clear to me why I like being a home business owner. However it may not be clear to you so I’ll try and paint a nice picture for you. Maybe you will find some things will supply motivation for you to get started with your own home business.
1. Being your own boss means you set your schedule. If you feel like taking Thursday off to go fishing, hey you’re the boss just do it. If you find you can’t sleep one night because you have so many ideas you want to work on, get up and work. For you married people who live in fear of your spouse, as I do, just go about it in a quiet way and show him or her the awesome things you did tomorrow at a decent hour.
2. If you have a family with kids you will be able to enjoy a lot more freedom to be with them. This can be a very compelling argument for working at home but it is a double edged sword as well. There will be times when you need your quiet time to actually get some work done. Once you are able to work out the details of your home business environment you will find it is very rewarding just to be able to take off and see your son’s baseball game or daughter’s ballet recital or vice versa.
But what do I like best about working at home? Freedom, plain and simple it’s the freedom I have to work when, how and on what I want. If I’m sick I stay in bed, no guilt trips when I call in to the boss with the flu. If there is a way I want to promote my business, then I do it.
If I fail it’s my fault and if I succeed it’s also my fault. At least I get credit for both failure and success, we have all had jobs where we only got credit for one, and can you guess which??

I totally agree. Having the freedom and time to do what you want is priceless to me. There’s no greater feeling than working when u want to and not having a boss to deal with.

Great post! I agree with and can relate to all of your points. Especially the one about the spouse! LOL
While she goes to bed, I often stay up late working because I am excited and inspired by my home based Internet business. Then in the morning, I sneak out of bed to fire up the computer and get an early start once again.
Through the day, I can break from my biz any time a family member needs my attention or some other matter comes up. When I used to have a J.O.B. outside of the home, it used to stress me so much when I couldn’t be there to help deal with things.

All good reasons for working at home and another is not having to deal with traffic and the time involved in going to and from a job outside the home.
There is nothing like the feeling of being able to take my wife on a weekend get-away in the middle of the week. Being a business owner has allowed me to do it and I love it!
I agree with you completely! I still work for an employer as well as building my business, but my business doesn’t feel like work. I can work when and where I want-out on the decking with a glass of wine on a summers day-bliss!
