Today I am going to help you start your own home business.  I have some information for those of you who have not been able to figure out how to jump on the internet bandwagon.  Lets face it, there are a lot of different types of internet businesses but today I am going to talk about how to get started in one of the businesses that is a great starter.  So let’s start an affiliate marketing business online.

First let’s start off with the basics.  You need a website to make money on the internet.  This should be easy to understand but for the slow readers I’ll type it slower this time.  You need a website to make money on the internet.  So, you could spend a couple hundred bucks having a website built for you.  But times are tough and you may not want to fork out a bunch of dough on something you don’t even know is going to work.

Okay, I have a program that comes with a free fully built website.  It’s true that it is what is known as a cookie cutter type website but remember it is free.  The really cool thing is that it is fully customizable.  Take a look at my website, NetBusinessDirect.  This was once that free website.  But I downloaded an html. editor and learned how to make changes to my website.

Your first internet business is going to be a learning experience.  But you are preparing yourself for the future.  Once you learn how to master the art of affiliate marketing and are able to make your own website you will be set for life.  It does take time as all good educational programs do.  But your future is worth it.  I started with this same program six months ago and I have been able to do things I never thought possible.

I am by no means an html. guru.  (In case you are wondering html. is the language your website is set up with)  But I can successfully set up my website for the content I wish and properly optimize it for the search engines just because of this program and the wonderful support I receive from my fellow entrepreneurs.

We have all had a regular job outside our home business and in every job we had there was always that one slacker that made our lives a living hell.  Since you are now your own boss are you taking things just as seriously as if there was a manager looking over your shoulder or have you now become that slacker?  Let’s take a look at the work ethics of the home business owner.

Think back to your last job or even your current job.  Who is the one guy or girl that is so lazy that they make your work double because you have to pick up their slack?  Do you have the person in mind?  Ok, you can un-clench your teeth and read on.

Having a good work ethic, in my opinion, is one of the most important character traits a person can have.  With a good work ethic you gain the respect and admiration of many of your peers with the possible exception of that one person you thought of a minute ago.

Now that you are running your own home business a good work ethic is still required.  The reasons may be different but it is still important.  Having a good work ethic will bring you success a lot sooner, the more you work the more you will accomplish.  Don’t forget about the personal pride you feel after a job well done.

For those of you that may be bordering on being a slacker it may be time for you to take a step back and take a good look at the way you work.  Set goals for yourself and do your best to keep them.  Don’t start blowing off the work that is so vital to your business.  Try not to procrastinate with your business either.  This can be easier said than done but you must be disciplined and you must not put things off until tomorrow!!

Submitting press releases is an often overlooked but highly effective way to spread the word about your products and services.  This type of marketing method is a bit different than article marketing.  So today I thought we could discuss how you too can master press release marketing in six easy steps.

1. A common mistake many internet business owners make when submitting a press release is that they do not offer newsworthy content.  The most effective time to issue a press release is when your business has something new to offer.

If you have a new product or are offering a joint venture are two examples when to issue a press release.  You will know when you have something to advertise about.

This kind of reminds me about the Dudley Moore movie Arthur.  When Arthur says to his butler Hobson,” Do you know what I am going to do? I’m going to take a bath”, and Hobson replies,” I’ll alert the media”.

2.  Give complete information about your news.  Don’t forget the writing guidelines you learned all those years ago, who, what, where, when and how.  You need to answer all the questions your readers may want to know.

3.  Don’t overlook the importance of your title.  Remember unless your press release is read it won’t do you much good.  So if your title is a bomb your press release won’t stand much of a chance in giving you any success.  So just like article marketing, your title needs to be captivating, rich with keywords and have a point to it.

4.  An easy to read press release is a well written press release.  It needs to be simple yet offer complete information for your readers.  Write simply with content in mind concentrating on facets and not fancy words.  Use few sentences as possible to get your point across.

5.  Make sure you have your contact information included with your press release so people will know how to contact you if more information is needed.

6.  Now it’s time for distribution.  Issue your press release to as many publishers that you can.  If you have time sensitive material you are going to want to issue it immediately.  You may also want to think about utilizing a press release service to help streamline the process.

If you don’t know what a backlink is then this post is for you.  A backlink is your website’s url posted on someone else’s website.  Backlinks are very important for obtaining traffic for your site.  The more backlinks you have the more traffic you can receive.

Today I am going to give you 5 ways to get backlinks and hopefully increase your website traffic.

1.  If you look at the bottom of this post you will see what is known as a resource box.  The resource box contains a little about myself and has a link pointing back to my website.  One method for increasing the number of backlinks you have is to write a lot of articles and post them to article directories online.  Each article will have your resource box, with your website information so readers can see what kind of promotions you are offering.

2.  Blogging is a great way to get backlinks.  Every time you make a blog post submit it to social directories, known as book marking, and you will have a valuable backlink.  Social directories love blog posts and so do the search engines.

3.  Make comments in other peoples blogs.  But only comment in blogs that allow you to have a link back to your website.

4.  Visit online discussion forums.  Most forums will allow you to have a signature that can be hyperlinked back to your website.  Use a keyword from your website and hyperlink it back to your website.  A post can stay in a discussion forum for a long time giving you backlinks for many years.

5.  If you are given the opportunity to write a testimonial for a product, jump at the chance.  A testimonial will give you a lot of traffic from a single backlink, especially if the product becomes a huge success.  Thousands of people could potentially look at the sales page with your name and website posted on it.

Hi everybody, today I want to tell you about a way to make submitting your articles a lot easier than how you may be doing it now.  In past posts, I have let you in on secrets that are designed to ease the load of working your internet business.  Well today I am going to share with you how article submission services can help you free up a boat load of time.

Article submissions are made to well known directories such as Article Base, Article Factory and E-Zine Articles.  Your first step after joing the service is to establish accounts with seven of the directories that will require a log in.  Other submissions are made using the company log in or to sites that don’t require one.  After that you are all set to begin your article submissions.

The article submission page is as easy as copying and pasting your title and article body into the appropriate spaces.  Submit Your Article is also ready for the search engines.  You can enter your keywords and a summary of your article.  There are also two entries for your resource box, one is for sites able to show html while the other is for non html sites.

After you preview you article you are ready to submit for release.  There are also two options to choose from before you release your article.  One is called article trickle.  Article trickle allows you to have your artcicle submitted during a specific time frame picked by you so not all of the directories will get your article at the same time.  This looks more natural to the search engines by not having a heap of back links all coming out at the same time.

The next option is for you to apply article leverage to your article.  This option will bring you to a new set of screens and will allow you to change the title and paragraphs of your article.  This will give you several different articles which will be posted to the various directories.

How would you like to earn a commission every month from just one sale?  Sounds fantastic doesn’t it and yes there is such a thing.  It’s called residual income or recurring income.  Today I am going to let you in on some of the secrets of the affiliate business and show you how to become a residual income affiliate.

First off let’s talk about two tier affiliate programs.  These types of programs pay you for sales but they also pay you for sales from any affiliates you may recruit.  The trick is to build a group of motivated affiliates that are willing to work their business as a business and not a hobby.

Affiliates will come and go, that is a fact.  Don’t be let down when they go because you will actually be better off.  The ones that stick around and work hard are the ones who will not only make a good living for you but for themselves.

You can also sell residual income programs that have a monthly membership fee. An example is a training program such as Success University. Everybody and I do mean everybody has a weakness.  If you’re new to internet marketing then there is a slight chance I know what your weakness is.  No I’m not psychic but my wife does say I’m psycho sometimes, (We have a mutual understanding, I’m nuts!!)

Today I have some internet business tips for those of you being challenged by the internet and remember I have been there.

It’s time to enroll in spy school.  You are the new 007 but instead of using a Walther PPK you are using the search engines.  Take some time and see what your competition is up to.  Check out their websites, their blogs and see how they have arranged things.  Check out their back links and see how far you have to go to catch up.  Also look and see if they are offering any incentives such as free e-books or discounted merchandise.

Do you have a good understanding what your target audience is looking for?  Hopefully you have set up your website with keywords that pertain to your area of business.  I mean it would be really dumb to have a website optimized for the search engines with the keyword fruit basket when you’re trying to sell fishing rods.  Can you see my meaning??

Do you own a blog?  As far as internet marketing goes, blogging is the greatest tool since the invention of the computer itself.  You have to take the time and reach out to your audience if you are going to be successful.  I am no Billy Shakespeare but I do know the importance of blogging.  For more on blogging check out my post How To Blog For Profit posted on 12/20/08.

Take advantage of all of the free marketing methods out there.  Write articles, social bookmarking, submit your website to link directories, (there are thousands of free directories out there).  But here is the thing, keep it going.  Don’t stop, keep building those back links and keep reaching out to your audience.

Don’t be afraid to outsource some of your marketing chores.  For example, I use a service called Submit Your Article that automatically submits my articles to several sites.  Sure I pay $37.00 per month for this service but the time it saves me is incredible.  And since article marketing is so important it keeps me going in the right direction.

And finally have a game plan.  If you were going to the bank to get a loan for a business they would want to see a copy of your business plan.  Just because you are running your own business at home doesn’t mean this is any less important.  And if your plan isn’t working, analyze it, make some changes and begin again.

Good evening everybody.  A couple of weeks ago I made a post about how to improve your article marketing strategy.  Since article writing is such an important part of internet marketing I thought I should give out some more information.  So today I am going to help you with a post concentrating on how to write more articles.

The first rule to increase your article writing efforts is to write about a subject you know.  The less time you have to spend researching a subject, the more articles you can write.  If you are new to the field you are writing about, take some time and learn about your business.  Your readers will thank you and your articles will flow out much more smoothly.

Next, try and shorten your articles.  Many article directories only require that you write a 250 word article while others may require a 400 word article.  There will be times when you are so excited about a subject that you will put out 500 word articles, which is great.  But don’t feel you have to do this all the time.

Love what you are doing and it will show in the articles you write.  The public can sense when you are writing just because you have to.  So if you are in a niche that you really like, your articles will come quicker and the public will sense the excitement you have for your business.  (Hey that was two for the price of one, but since we are all friends here there will be no charge!!)

And finally, write in an area without distractions.  This may be easier said then done especially those of you with a large family.  But for me this is a necessity, I loose my train of thought very easily which is why I am no longer an air traffic controller, just kidding.  But I do need my space while I am working.
